The Exmouth Stroke Survivors and Family Club offers several ways to get involved, from joining their interactive community events to volunteering your time to support local survivors. 

Upcoming Special Events (2026)

The club and its partners have scheduled several gatherings focused on community support and networking:

• Dementia Support Networking Event:
  • Networking Meeting: Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at 10:00 am.
  • Details: A meeting at All Saints Church Hall to foster collaboration between local support groups. Includes a quiz, music, and lunch.
• The Great West Run:
  • Date: Sunday, 24 May 2026.
  • Details: While hosted by Open Door Exmouth, this is a major local event where community members run to raise funds for local support services.
• Weekly Community Meals:
  • When: Every Wednesday from 12:00 pm.
  • Details: A two-course hot meal for £3, followed by a Memory Café from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm for coffee, cake, and conversation. 

How to Get Involved as a Volunteer

The club is actively seeking local volunteers to help sustain its "family feel" and expand its services. 

• Local Club Opportunities:
  • Activities & Events: Assist with group activities, arts and crafts, or help organize the annual summer fair and Christmas events.
  • Community Outreach: Helping with home visits or delivering food parcels to those unable to attend meetings.
  • Fundraising: The club often needs help with raffles and seeking donations from local businesses.
• Broader Support Roles: Through the Stroke Association, you can apply for specific roles such as:
  • Befriender: Visiting survivors to reduce social isolation.
  • Driver: Providing transport for members who can no longer drive.
  • Communication Supporter: Helping those with aphasia or other speech difficulties.
